In 2006 Dallas chiropractor Dr. Francis X. Murphy developed the OTZ Technique, which he named after the binary code used to operate computers, i.e., one to zero.  This technique involves a very unique analysis and manipulation of the articulation between the occiput and the first cervical vertebrae.  His initial application of this technique involved the resolution of a case of frozen shoulder syndrome, whereby using his analysis and treatment, this patient had dramatic improvement in range of motion and decreased pain of her frozen shoulder after just one adjustment.  Her video testimonial is worth watching and can be seen in the video to the right.

Since then Dr. Murphy has treated over 1000 cases of frozen shoulder syndrome using this technique with dramatic results. He has also trained health care providers from around the world who are also experiencing success with this technique! More importantly, clinical data suggests that this particular technique has a much broader application for the chiropractic profession and the patient population. This adjustment has profound effects on neurologic functions associated with head righting, posture, respiratory mechanics, insomnia, headache, chronic pain, and of course the disorder liberally called “frozen shoulder”.  Drs. Michael W. Hall and Anne Jensen have been working with Dr. Murphy to bring this technique and its’ results to the forefront of chiropractic research. This past year they were awarded a poster presentation at the prestigious World Federation of Chiropractic Symposium held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Currently, the paper is being submitted for journal acceptance. Additional research venues are being sought to further validate the OTZ Technique. Dr. Hall is a chiropractic clinical neurologist with over 20 years of educational and practice experience in dealing with neurological conditions. Dr. Anne Jensen is a well-established chiropractic researcher who is currently preparing to complete her PhD studies. She has extensive experience in research addressing stress, sports, and muscle facilitation.
